This page restates the questions the archived Book Africa Travel site answered, in general form.

What is the idea behind the marketplace?

It was described as a travel marketplace meant to introduce more people to tourism in Africa, a continent with many cultures and experiences. Independent guides and travel experts offered tours in countries including Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Rwanda, Senegal, Kenya, Morocco, Ethiopia, Mauritius, Seychelles, Egypt, Botswana, Tunisia, Cape Verde and Tanzania.

How do visitors choose a tour?

They could browse a curated list of tours based on the kind of experience they wanted, or use a planner that built a custom trip from their preferences. Typical filters are country, trip length, interest and timing.

What about refunds and cancellations?

Refund and cancellation terms came from each provider and appeared on the “Cancellation Policy” tab of a listing. In 2020 the FAQ added that bookings could be cancelled for a full refund, or moved to a new date, during the pandemic. That was a time-limited statement and does not apply today.

A tip

Always read the cancellation terms before you pay, and keep written confirmation. The terms overview explains the general rules, and the COVID-19 note shows how travel was affected in 2020.
